Award-winning and proudly Northland-based, Brewed As celebrates local produce through a seasonal menu shaped by Asian flavours and modern techniques. Our offering moves easily between thoughtful café plates and shareable dishes, alongside inventive cocktails and carefully crafted coffee.

More than a café, Brewed As is a place to meet. We work closely with local growers, makers, and suppliers, choosing sustainability and ethical sourcing as part of how we operate, not as an afterthought. From food and drink to music and events, we create space for people to come together and connect.

    What the judges said:
    It truly was a gastronomic experience and exceptional customer service was delivered with that extra ‘wow’ factor from booking and arrival, through to the detailed explanation of the dish and the matching wine. The team at Brewed As really excel at Manaaki–they are passionate food ambassadors and exceptional hosts which made you feel so welcome, at ease and inspired as well. The kingfish penang curry was exceptional with all the added surprises like the lychees, charred onion and crispy quinoa. To maintain the delicate flavours of the sustainably farmed kingfish with the rich flavour of a curry was outstanding. I was left wanting to lick the plate clean! The oaked viognier from Dancing Petrel was a perfect pairing–a bit of creamy sweet with the savoury dish flavours. It left such a lovely finish on the palate and the owners were excited to tell the story of the source vineyard and winemaker as well. Nothing was too much of a problem and we were made to feel like VIPs each time we visited. It is the people that made this experience so memorable and welcoming.
    We even visited again to try the standard menu fare just to check we didn’t experience a ‘one off’ stand out experience, and again the staff, responsive customer service and recommendations for food+drinks was just as exceptional as the first-time.

    What the judges said:
    This was a true culinary experience with extra special manaakitanga expressed during the entire visit. From the owners to the front-of-house staff, everyone gave a vibe of people who love to host and create good times for their customers. Who thought that oystermushrooms could taste so good? The delicate flavours still came through with subtle hits of chilli dipping sauce with a rich blackvinegar giving it a nice balance. The North meets East cocktail really packed a punch – it was a flavour sensation on the palate which feltlike you were drinking a decadent liquid dessert.
    Your passion for food, local producers and celebrating the region really shone through. You couldn’t help but get excited with your infectious enthusiasm. You expressed true hospitality and Manaaki to everyone who walked through the door. Thank you for bringing your authentic selves to work every day!

I ordered one of the salads and it was packed full of healthy fresh ingredients but was also fulling. The pork bahn mi roll was very flavourful and fresh too. Great coffee!
