About us

At Brewed As, we embrace the core value of "Manaakitanga" from Māori culture, where love, compassion, and kindness shape everything we do. Our commitment to being a hospitable, respectful, and supportive community is at the heart of our café.

We take immense pride in serving you the finest coffee and wholesome, flavourful food. Our menu, an evolving tapestry of specialty coffee, organic teas, invigorating smoothies, raw treats, craft beer, wine, and cocktails, is carefully curated with your taste buds in mind. We collaborate with local talents as a Collective, showcasing their products and highlighting the richness of our community.

Sustainability is a critical part of our ethos. We strive to create a space where locals can gather, exchange ideas, promote local expertise, and participate in community events. Together, we can make a positive impact on our environment and foster a better tomorrow for future generations.

We are constantly seeking new challenges and pushing ourselves to learn and grow. Our unwavering pursuit of knowledge and growth ignites our excitement. Our ultimate goal is to engage, entertain, and educate our community, creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels at home.

Our convivial café is a friendly and lively atmosphere, where feasting, drinking, and good company thrive. With an emphasis on using fresh, locally sourced ingredients that are in season, we craft dishes that are both flavourful and diverse.

Join us at Brewed As, where the fusion of flavours, community, and sustainability creates an exceptional cafe experience. Embrace the spirit of Manaakitanga and embark on a journey of taste, connection, and genuine hospitality.

Turning Point Coffee is a small batch coffee roastery located in Whangarei, New Zealand. It was founded in 2007 by Stu Hargie, who is a passionate coffee roaster and advocate for sustainability. Turning Point Coffee sources its coffee beans from small, independent farmers who practice sustainable agriculture. The coffee is roasted in small batches to ensure freshness and quality.

Our green beans come direct from growers or through certified organic farms, so we know where they’re coming from and who’s getting paid what. It’s about fairness really – and we’re not interested in anything less.

Our ultimate goal is re-use, it’s how we supply cafes and how you can genuinely access zero-waste premium coffee.  We have implemented a barrel exchange system with Brewed As to remove the need of single use or compostable bags

Roasted fresh daily on one of the most advanced small batch roasters using infra-red elements, so no gas equals less emissions.

The roaster Stu Hargie, started in coffee in 1998 in New Zealand, working in sales/barista training and has since worked in green coffee sourcing and quality, both in the UK and New Zealand.
