It’s been one of those years where Mangawhai has kept us guessing - from the weather to the roadworks and everything in between. Some days were quieter than usual, some downright challenging, but the support we did see meant a lot. Every visit, every takeaway, every kind word helped keep the wheels turning at Brewed As.

We’ve seen familiar faces come in for their “I need this” morning coffee, families settling in for dinner after braving the road cones, and folks just needing a place to exhale for a minute. That’s the part that keeps us going - being a little anchor point in a year that hasn’t always felt steady.

Now summer’s knocking, and honestly, we’re ready for it. We’re talking proper sunshine, long evenings, live music drifting out over the courtyard, cold drinks, good chats, and that easy Mangawhai energy we all wait for and attracts the masses. After the year we’ve had, it feels good to be looking forward with some excitement again.

So from all of us at Brewed As: thank you. For sticking with us, for supporting local hospo, and for being part of this community we love. Here’s to a summer of good vibes, good weather, and plenty of moments worth celebrating.

Selector Sessions
with DJ Miss Chan & DJ Damo

28 December & 9 January: 4pm to 8pm
This is a free event

We’re keeping the summer grooves rolling at Brewed As with two special courtyard sessions featuring DJ Miss Chan and DJ Damo. Miss Chan - a 95bFM legend and the first female host of the Jazz Show - pairs her decades of musical depth with Damo’s eclectic feel-good selections for a perfect afternoon soundtrack.

Expect a smooth, uplifting mix of soul, funk, jazz, disco, roots, house, and whatever else suits the Mangawhai sunshine. Grab a cold drink, settle into the courtyard, and let the music roll you into the evening.

Dumplings & Dub

We’re hitting peak summer vibes, and that means one thing: Dumplings & Dub is back on Friday 16 January at Brewed As. Fish and Bread Sound System are rolling in with those warm, heavy dub reggae rhythms that turn a summer twlight into something extra special.

We’ll be serving up dumplings - steamed, crispy, and full of flavour - alongside a few selections from our evening menu, cold drinks, good company, and that unmistakable Mangawhai mid-summer buzz. It’s one of our favourite events of the year for a reason.

If you’ve been before, you know the vibe. If you haven’t, this is the perfect time to jump in. Good music. Good food. Good people. That’s Dumplings & Dub.

Fish & Bread is a hand-made reggae sound system, built to celebrate the rich catalogue of reggae based music originating from Jamaica and Europe over the last 50 years. Built in the tradition of European sound systems, our sound brings a unique vibe and character that can’t be achieved on a regular PA.

They select tunes with a message and a means to connect the dance together, and unite as one family. Expect a musical journey from the mystical to the militant and beyond.
