A note from us

We’re Staying, And we couldn’t be happier about it.

You might have noticed the sale signs have quietly come down. After taking some time to explore what the future could look like for Brewed As. We've decided there's simply too much still to do here - too many ideas, too many great people, and too much community to walk away from.

We had some interest along the way, but honestly? Nothing felt right. This place is ours and yours, and we're not done yet. Thank you for being part of what makes it worth staying for.

Our hours are changing

From Monday the 20th of April, our new hours are:

Day: Every day | 8am – 2.30pm (Kitchen & savoury cabinet close at 2pm)

Evenings: Wednesday – Saturday | 5.30pm – late

Don’t worry dumplings will be joining our evening menu

Have you tried the banana blossom yet?

If you haven't, now is the time. Our new banana blossom dish has been one of our most talked-about additions in a long time - and it's not something you'll find on many menus. Once you try it, you'll understand the fuss.

Tempura-battered banana blossom, julienne Asian raw salad, served with our house dipping sauce. Light, satisfying, and genuinely surprising. Available on the evening menu Tuesday through Saturday.

A Community Shoutout

Support Seleno Health and maybe win $500 doing it.

Some of you will know Seleno Health - the incredible team behind the maca and cacao we use and love. They recently had a full container of cacao destroyed by US customs on arrival - six months of work, unsellable, uninsured. A devastating hit for a small family business. That Easter pudding though

Over Easter we ran a warm & spiced sourdough puddling special. For those who missed it - don’t worry, you’ll see it again this week.

Served warm with chantilly cream, icing sugar, hibiscus dust, and fresh mint from the garden. When it's gone, it's gone - and it was definitely gone.

Worth celebrating

Seven years, two birthday’s, and a party on the way.

On the 15th of April, Brewed As. turns seven. And honestly - what a seven years it's been.

We opened our doors and barely had time to find our feet before Covid hit and the world shut down. We survived that - because you showed up for us. Then came the tornados. Tsunami warnings, cyclones and flooding that had us all holding our breath. Wild swings in the economy that made running a small business feel like navigating in the dark into navigating orange cones for nine months of roadworks that made just getting here feel like an expedition. And now, as we write this, the world feels more uncertain than ever.

Through all of it, Brewed As. is still here. Still cooking, still pouring, still opening the doors every morning. That's not something we take lightly - and it's not something we could have done without this community behind us.

Everything you see here was built from scratch by two people who believed Mangawhai deserved something special. So a huge thank you - and a very happy birthday - to Anna, co-owner and the creative force behind so much of what makes this place what it is, who turns 39 on the 22nd of April. Seven years of building something worth keeping. We're proud of every single one of them.
