Winter has a way of inviting us to slow down.

As Matariki arrives, we've found ourselves reflecting on the people, places and experiences that have shaped Brewed As. This Winter, we've created a shared feast celebrating incredible New Zealand produce, alongside a new coffee inspired by the place where our own story began over 14 years ago.

Whether you're joining us for brunch, dinner, or simply stopping in for a coffee, we hope you'll find something to enjoy over the weeks ahead.

Matariki Shared Feast

Matariki is a time to gather, share good food, and appreciate the incredible produce Aotearoa has to offer.

To mark the occasion, we've created a special five-plate shared feast featuring some of our favourite New Zealand ingredients, from Haku kingfish and Northland lamb to carefully selected New Zealand wines.

It's a menu designed to be enjoyed together.

Something for the kids!

Mont Blanc - The Coffee

A smooth salted caramel cold brew, topped with a cloud of lightly whipped vanilla cream that melts into the coffee like softened ice cream, finished with fresh orange zest for a bright alpine lift.

Where it all began

Over fourteen years ago, after a day riding in Chamonix, I bumped into Anna in a car park during après. She'd wandered over after hearing a group of French guys playing drum & bass, as did I.

We got chatting, and before long I was heading back to meet the crew where she and her friends were drinking, and made more life long friends. As always happens in the mountains, the conversation turned to snowboarding.

"We should all ride together tomorrow."

A meeting place and time were agreed, despite the fact everyone was already several drinks deep.

The next morning, only two people turned up.

I'll admit, I assumed we'd spend the day cruising groomed runs and taking it easy. I couldn't have been more wrong.

Anna absolutely rips.

Instead of mellow laps, we spent the day hunting powder, riding off-piste and exploring the mountains together.

That day turned into fourteen and a half years.

Since then we've snowboarded together across five countries - France, Switzerland, Italy, Japan and New Zealand - and built a life that eventually brought us here to Mangawhai and starting Brewed As.

This winter, our Mont Blanc coffee is a little nod to where it all began.

One of our favourite memories was riding down the infamous Vallée Blanche - a 20km off-piste descent from the Aiguille du Midi, weaving between glaciers beneath Mont Blanc.

The Vallée Blanche is a legendary 20 km off-piste glacier ski route in the Mont Blanc massif. Starting from the Aiguille du Midi at 3,842 meters, it descends over 2,700 vertical meters past towering seracs and crevasses taking about 4-6hours to navigate.

At 3800m above sea level, you can see the earths curvature (sorry flat earthers), the air is thinner and even running up the stairs is hard work. The town below is Chamonix, behind us is Mont Blanc, another 1000m higher!
