In July, Dumplings and Dub: Winter Edition warmed our souls – big thanks to The Fish & Bread Sound System crew and everyone who ventured out for tasty bites and a good boogie.

This month, we’ve got more on the cards:

• An intimate International Poetry Day celebration, featuring live poetry and soulful grooves from some of our favourite local-but-renowned DJs.(It’s tonight fyi)

We’re also running a few special promos to encourage locals to brave the cones – the contractors are making solid progress, with the first half of the carpark now complete and the second half well underway. Brewing Change: A Night of Coffee Curiosity & Community

(Past event:Tuesday 12th August, 5:30 - 7:30pm)

What a fantastic evening we had at Brewed As for our Brewing Change: Coffee Workshop with the incredible Stu Hargie - World Barista Championship Judge, Q Grader, and founder of Turning Point Coffee.

The session was thorough but never overwhelming, delivering a solid foundation in the world of specialty coffee while staying relaxed and engaging. From the journey of the bean through processing, grading, roast profiling, and cupping, Stu guided us through the many layers of what makes a great coffee.

One of the highlights? Tasting the difference between natural and washed coffees from Brazil to Ethiopia, and comparing light through to dark roasts. It was a full-on sensory experience that opened up so many conversations and “aha” moments.

Everyone left with a 250g bag of freshly roasted beans and a deeper appreciation for what goes into every cup.

Thanks to all who joined us - and to Stu, for bringing his knowledge and manaakitanga to the table.

Sidenote: I had reports the next day one of our attendees when they got home, while cooking dinner managed to clean the house at the same time…
