Dumplings, Funk & a Valentine’s Filling Fast

We blinked… and it’s February

January didn’t get a newsletter, but it did get dumplings, dub, full tables, and an event that felt just right. Dumplings & Dub brought the energy - good food, good people, and basslines rolling through the courtyard, and maybe some of the neighbours yards.

So consider this your February reset. Set menus - including one that’s booking quicker than we expected - funky Fridays, dumpling Tuesdays, and a rare natural from Uganda that’s showing just how expressive coffee can be, especially over ice.

We’re sliding into the weekend with Thank Funk It’s Friday - courtyard grooves from DJ Damo and Miss Chan.

DJ Damo sets the tone with groove-first selections moving through soul, funk, disco and house - relaxed, feel-good flow made for warm evenings and cold drinks.

Miss Chan - 95bFM legend and the first female host of the Zambesi Jazz Show - brings decades of musical knowledge to the decks. Expect jazz, funk, Latin, Cuban, downtempo, roots and reggae, all delivered with the warmth and depth only vinyl can provide.

The courtyard will be humming, drinks flowing, and the music carrying you gently from after-work mode into weekend mode.

Come early, settle in - and thank funk it’s Friday.

Fish & Bread is a hand-made reggae sound system, built to celebrate the rich catalogue of reggae based music originating from Jamaica and Europe over the last 50 years. Built in the tradition of European sound systems, our sound brings a unique vibe and character that can’t be achieved on a regular PA.

It’s a night we only hold a couple of times a year, and every time it reminds us why we do it. Full tables, shared plates, bass rolling through the courtyard, and people settling in rather than rushing off.

Massive appreciation to the Fish & Bread Sound System crew for bringing their custom-built stack and unmistakable energy.

For us, nights like this are about more than food or music. They’re about people coming together - sharing a table, a rhythm, and a space with mutual respect.

We’ll hold onto that feeling until the next one.
